En effet, chaque année, la Côte d’Ivoire subit une perte de 7 % de son produit intérieur brut (PIB) à cause des accidents de la route. Parmi les conducteurs de minicars appelés communément « gbaka », trois sur cent ont un taux d’alcoolémie élevé, ce qui augmente le taux d’accident de circulation.
Soumahoro Mamadou, président de la Maison des transporteurs de Côte d’Ivoire (MTCI), déclare qu’il est inacceptable qu’un conducteur, responsable de la vie de nombreuses personnes, consomme de l’alcool avant de conduire. Il souligne que la responsabilité de ces comportements inappropriés revient non seulement aux auto-écoles et au ministère concerné, mais aussi aux conducteurs eux-mêmes.
