Choguel Kokalla Maïga, chef du mouvement M5 RFP, avait le samedi 16 novembre 2024, vivement critiqué le retard de la fin de la transition gouvernementale, affirmant que la patience a des limites et que des débats sont essentiels.
Nommé premier ministre par les militaires en 2021 à la suite d’un second coup d’État en un an, Choguel Maïga, s’était livré à une critique contre la junte militaire pour son exclusion des décisions importantes. En effet, il avait dénoncé avec indignation l’extension de la période de transition décidée sans consultation et l’octroi excessif de permis de création de partis politiques. Ce qui serait en contradiction avec les recommandations de la dernière conférence nationale. Il aurait selon lui-même appris l’extension de la période de transition, à travers les médias.
Également, il avait annoncé qu’il faisait face à des attaques notamment sur les réseaux sociaux, et avait fait allusion à une mission orchestrée pour le discréditer.
Son limogeage crée cependant une incertitude supplémentaire dans un contexte déjà troublé.
Certains des principaux membres du pouvoir militaire, comme le général Sadio Camara, ministre de la Défense, et le général Ismaël Wagué, ministre de la Réconciliation, font partie du gouvernement.
« Il est mis fin aux fonctions du Premier ministre et des membres du gouvernement » : c’est ce que dit le décret du chef du général Assimi Goïta, lu par le secrétaire général de la présidence, Alfousseyni Diawara.
Choguel Maïga a régi face a cette nouvelle par un poste sur son compte X : « Ah, je viens d’apprendre que le Premier ministre est demi de ses fonctions ! Enfin le Nil est arrivé à Caire ! »
