Le procès en appel de l’ancien président mauritanien Mohamed Ould El Aziz s’est ouvert ce mercredi à Nouakchott. Il est accusé d’avoir abusé de son pouvoir pour amasser une immense fortune.
En effet, l’ancien chef d’État Mohamed Ould El Aziz, a dirigé la Mauritanie de 2008 à 2019.
En décembre 2023, il avait été condamné en première instance à 5 ans d’emprisonnement pour enrichissement illicite. Ses avocats avaient fait appel de la décision.
Il comparaît aux côtés d’une dizaine de hauts responsables et de proches, dont deux anciens Premiers ministres et deux anciens ministres et directeurs de grandes sociétés, pour « enrichissement illicite », « abus de fonctions », « trafic d’influence » ou « blanchiment ».
