Mercredi, à Majiya, dans l’État de Jigawa, une explosion d’un camion-citerne a coûté la vie à plus de 140 personnes, dont des enfants. Les victimes tentaient de récupérer du carburant après que le véhicule se soit renversé sur une autoroute. L’incendie s’est déclenché lorsque les habitants, cherchant désespérément du carburant, se sont précipités sur les lieux.
Cette tragédie reflète la précarité croissante au Nigeria, exacerbée par la flambée des prix du carburant depuis la suppression des subventions.
