Un mouvement de foule survenu dimanche 1er décembre 2024 à Nzérékoré, en Guinée, a causé la mort d’au moins 56 personnes lors de la finale d’un tournoi de football dédié au général Mamadi Doumbouya, chef de la junte militaire. Le stade, doté uniquement d’un portail principal et d’une petite porte, s’est transformé en piège pour des centaines de spectateurs tentant de fuir. Les secours ont sauvé de justesse Madame Maikan Fofana, une figure locale, après qu’elle ait été piétinée. D’autres, comme Aline Olivier Loua, une élève, n’ont pas survécu.
Bilan et réactions officielles
Le gouvernement guinéen a confirmé un bilan provisoire de 56 morts et de nombreux blessés, sans en préciser le nombre exact. Il a annoncé l’ouverture d’une enquête pour établir les responsabilités et promet un soutien psychologique et médical aux victimes. Le Premier ministre Amadou Oury Ba a exhorté la population au calme et a promis un accompagnement pour les familles endeuillées.
Des vidéos diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux montrent des scènes de chaos et des corps alignés près du stade, témoignant de l’ampleur de la catastrophe. Des jeunes ont également incendié un commissariat de police dans la nuit suivant le drame.
Contexte politique et social
On considérait le tournoi de football comme une tentative de promotion politique de Mamadi Doumbouya, chef de la junte qui a renversé le président Alpha Condé en 2021. Le pouvoir en place organise régulièrement des compétitions similaires, renforçant les accusations d’instrumentalisation politique du sport.
