Un incident diplomatique ?
Deux français ont été arrêtés « brièvement » puis relâchés par la police israélienne le 7 novembre 2024 à Jérusalem. Cet incident s´est produit lors de la visite en Israël de Jean-Noël Barrot, ministre français des affaires étrangères.
«[…]deux personnels du Consulat général de France à Jérusalem ont été arrêtés par la sécurité israélienne alors même qu’ils sont des agents sous statut diplomatique ». C´est ce qu´indique le communiqué du ministère français des Affaires étrangères.
Jean-Noël Barrot renonce à sa visite dans le domaine français de l´Eléona, en Israël
Le ministre français des affaires étrangères devait visiter ce jeudi l’Eléona. Il s’agit d’un domaine national français avec un monastère bénédictin, situé à Jérusalem-Est. Cependant, il a décidé de ne pas y entrer à cause de la présence des forces de sécurité israéliennes armées. Celles-ci s´y étant introduites sans l’autorisation de la France et sans vouloir se retirer.
Il aurait déclaré, selon une source diplomatique, que cette intrusion constituait une situation grave.
Israël nie les faits et se justifie
Dans un communiqué, la police israélienne a annoncé que les deux gendarmes, étaient « au départ non identifiés ». Aussi, que ces derniers avaient « refusé l’entrée du site aux agents israéliens chargés de la sécurité » de Jean-Noël Barrot.
Le ministère israélien des Affaires étrangères a pour sa part nié être à l’origine de tout incident diplomatique. Il a affirmé dans un communiqué que les questions de sécurité « ont été clarifiées à l’avance lors de discussions préparatoires avec l’ambassade de France en Israël ».
La France convoque l´ambassadeur d´Israël
La France a réagi en annonçant qu’elle convoquera l’ambassadeur d’Israël à Paris « dans les prochains jours » en raison de cette situation jugée inacceptable par les autorités françaises.
